Now I’m not usually one for venturing too far from home but this weekend I’m making an exception and spending Saturday in Birmingham because the Future Shift Festival looks so exciting.
Those of you familiar with the Make:Shift format will know that it’s all about getting behind and supporting great community ideas to come to fruitition. Future Shift has the same sort of aspirations but they’ve got a few more resources to support the whole thing and are looking to fast-track great ideas through their accelerator programme. Any ideas that go through to the final stage will be able to apply for funding to support their idea to become a reality.
The event itself on Saturday looks like a real buzz and I’m looking forward to having a brilliant time discussing issues as diverse as developing a local currency (wouldn’t that be great in Wolverhampton?) to low carbon challenges with people from across the Black Country and Birmingham.

By the way, anyone know which song the title of this blog is plagiarised from and the name of the artist? Let me know.
